World Series Final Game Draws 51M Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a combined 51 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-match series drew over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance after 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
