Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This occasion offered a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
