The acclaimed actor has provided his vocal talents to a new documentary that challenges the efficacy of vaccines and praises former government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a popular book written by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for assertions that Covid was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her co-author, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone media personality the Infowars host. He took to social media celebrating Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
A spokesperson for Neeson have issued a comment strongly denying claims that he supports anti-immunization beliefs.
"Everyone can understand that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be confused with opposition to vaccines," the response states. "Liam never has been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the UN children's agency underscores his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement added that the performer was not involved in crafting the documentary's messaging and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the filmmakers.
According to the documentary, the narration read by Neeson includes several controversial points:
The film also references a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a formal apology by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, Kennedy instructed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is also referenced in the documentary, despite a recent study from the global health body reiterating no evidence has been found.
Contrasting the documentary's message, Neeson has previously expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Two years ago, he called vaccines as "an incredible human success story," adding that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the end of our narrative. Rather, it is the dawn of a new chapter."
